rapid aim window design

The Rapid aim window is an open viewing area that provides direct line of sight with the target and allows users to keep focus on the target for rapid acquisition and reaction.

Direct Line of Sight

The Rapid Aim Window provides an open viewing area with an unobstructed view of the target that allows the user to maintain a direct line of sight with the target and keep their focus on the target which allows the user to gain crucial undisrupted visual information about where they are aiming and allows the user to plan their action allowing for quicker target acquisition and reaction and has been shown to increase performance because focus is maintained on the target.

always on target

The coordination of vision and movement that occurs when the visual cortex and motor cortex work together to control movement require a final visual fixation on the target location prior to the initiation of action. Being able to see the target while aiming allows the user to keep their focus on the target instead of shifting their visual focus between the sights and the target and increases the user’s ability to decide on and complete an action without having to cognitively consider multiple alternative plans of action and decide between them which decreases action time.

SHAPE alignment

RAW Sights use shape alignment and highly visible index markings that allow the user to easily align with the target for quicker target acquisition and reaction while aiming with both eyes open. Shape alignment allows for reflex aiming in high stress scenarios when time is critical. The shape contours and shape indexes simplify aiming with both eyes open while the front and rear contrasting index colors provide improved spatial awareness when aligning the sights.

Highly Visible Index Markings

Using highly visible index marks makes it easier to maintain focus beyond the sights on the target and still see the highly visible index marks in your peripheral vision for reflex alignment with the target. When both eyes are used to aim the shooter gains a wider field of view, better depth perception, and improved spatial awareness. These aspects are crucial in shooting for accurately gauging distances, greater situational awareness and making split-second decisions.

physiology of vision and reflex aiming

Binocular vision

Binocular vision is when both eyes are used together and provides a wider field of view, better depth perception, and improved spatial awareness. These aspects are crucial in sports shooting for accurately gauging distances and making split-second decisions.

Perception-Action coupling

Perception-Action coupling is considered the relationship between visual information and movement planning (action planning). Continuously being able to visually focus on a target allows the user to gain crucial undisrupted visual information about where they are aiming and, in turn, further allows the user to plan their action. Being able to gain undisrupted visual information increases the user’s ability to decide on and complete an action without having to cognitively consider multiple alternative plans of action and decide between them which decreases reaction time.

Gaze-Action coupling

Gaze-Action coupling is defined as the final fixation or tracking gaze at the target location prior to the initiation of the final movement or action. Gaze-Action coupling is the coordination of vision and movement that occurs when the visual cortex and motor cortex work together to control movement and has been shown to increase performance when focus is maintained on the target.
